ComfortDelGro deployed Turnkeys ESG solution to become more sustainable

ComfortDelGro is one of the largest land transport companies in the world with a global workforce, a global shareholder base and a global outlook, the Group was formed on 29 March 2003 through the merger of two land transport companies – Comfort Group and DelGro Corporation.

The Client

ComfortDelGro operates in seven countries with a fleet of around 34,000 vehicles.

ComfortDelGro’s businesses include bus, taxi, rail, car rental and leasing, automotive engineering services, inspection and testing services, driving centres, non-emergency patient transport services, insurance broking services and outdoor advertising.

Apart from being the market leader in Singapore, ComfortDelGro has a significant overseas presence. The Group’s operations currently extend from the United Kingdom and Ireland to Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, as well as across nine cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenyang and Chengdu.


The Challenge

Turnkey were tasked to embed Greenhouse Gas (GHG) tracking capabilities within the ComforDelGro. They were to roll out a long-term strategy to ensure company culture and values aligned with Turnkey’s ESG framework and ultimately change their entire company policy as part of their commitment to the Science Based Targets Initiative and in line with the Paris Agreement to limit global warming.

Turnkey were to implement a system that offered actionable data on energy & water wastage, material usage, travel and social change opportunities — in turn moulding the ComfortDelGro infrastructure so that they meet the requirements to achieve relevant sustainability certification.

The Turnkey solution needed the ability to expand across all ComfortDelGro locations, with staff training and KPI setting.

The Turnkey Solution


Turnkey implemented a sustainability infrastructure with GHG tracking & reporting software to measure and track reduction in the ComfortDelGro carbon footprint, allowing them to achieve their sustainability goals.

Turnkey initially conducted a materiality assessment. This allowed them to build a sustainability roadmap to begin the implementation of an ESG framework.

To ensure data was collected correctly, Turnkey also offered training sessions to staff members using the software, with regular ongoing sessions and reviews.

The Results

Since implementing Turnkeys ESG software, ComfortDelGro has seen multiple material results. These include:

  • A decrease in carbon emissions from Scopes 1 & 2 by 35%
  • A decrease in carbon emissions from Scope 3 by 66%
  • An expected decrease in the cost of electric vehicle ownership within the next decade
  • 374 trees saved from paper recycling

ComfortDelGro is pleased with these figures and is working with Turnkey to develop new future improvements, such as automated analytics to track Greenhouse Gas (GHG) savings from the deployment of solar panels.
