Kimberly Clark Softex required a comprehensive ESG framework to support the rollout of a long-term strategy and alignment of the company culture that would be reflected across all parts of the organisational values and into policy.
Turnkey was commissioned to implement a system that offered actionable data on energy and water wastage, materials usage, travel, and social change opportunities.
The Turnkey solution needed the ability to expand across all KC Softex locations, with staff training and KPI setting.

To begin, Turnkey performed a materiality assessment, this enabled Turnkey to build an effective roadmap based upon the leadership teams selected KPI’s.
After the data collection process began, Turnkey proposed a five-year roadmap to embed the ESG framework and establish sustainability and diversity policies throughout the organisation – a core part of this addressing gender equality.
Turnkey expanded this framework across all Softex locations, with staff training and KPI setting, which was regularly monitored and reviewed.
Efficiency measures were implemented company-wide, which expanded into health and safety data metrics and the first ESG report. From this, Turnkey conducted a Product Life Cycle Assessment.
A supplier assessment was also completed as part of the ESG framework. After this, Turnkey created an action plan for a Product Life Cycle Assessment.
The Turnkey sustainability framework allowed KC Softex to change values and company policy at its very heart.
The first phase of the Turnkey ESG program identified a quarter of a million dollars of structural cost savings.
All the results and outputs enabled KC Softex to progress from an ESG sceptic to a leadership position within their industry within the Southeast Asia region – winning numerous ESG awards.
In 2020 the business was sold to US multinational Kimberly Clark with a deal valued at $1.2b, giving CVC Capital Partners a 3.3 money multiple at an IRR of 40%.
Kimberly Clark cited the sustainability profile and policies of KC Softex as critical drivers in expediting the deal.
